This Guy is SNAPPIN!!!

We have a treat for y'all with this next artist. His hardwork ethic is out of this world. Unlike most, this cat actually appreciates hip hop and cares whether it lives or dies. All the way from Denver, CO. We got a kid that is destined for greatness, and you get to read about him here first. He goes by the name of "Kid Snap" and snapping on every single beat is just what he does. He doesn't just rap, he tells a story and paints a picture. You can tell that he has really been through what he talks about in every song. We hope you enjoy "KS's" music as much as we enjoyed listening and doing this interview with him.

1. What's your stage name.

- Kid Snap

2. How long have you been doing music?

- About 6 years

3.What inspired you to start making music?

- "Ive always loved music and knew that I wanted to be apart of it some how. What really made me pick up a mic and become a recording artist is the lack of what I saw in the game. I wanted to be one of those who help bring rap back to its roots. There are so many out there that disrespect the true art of hip hop and I want to help change that image."

4. Who do you look up to in the music industry? Why?

- "Hands down J. Cole. Its not to say that there aren’t other great artist that I bump and get energy from but Cole resonates to me and the style of Hip Hop I enjoy. Beyond the fact that he makes amazing music that is easy for all to enjoy and still finds away to remain him I feel we have a lot in common and I could have a similar struggle in my journey.  As an artist that wants to remain more conscience you seem to get benched a lot in this game, and people can only hear you out or understand you if you are on a hard-hitting trap type beat. So the way he balances that aspect of the game and can still give truth inspires me. Plus we are both Aquarius with degrees so that’s pretty dope too."

5.Where are you from? What was it like growing up there?

-  "I was born in Battle Creek MI but I became the man I am today in Denver, CO. They are really two sides of a coin and I love them both. Battle Creek is more of a smaller city so you feel more connected and are always around family. Denver on the other hand is a bigger city where you can really be who ever you want to be. O yeah and in Denver you can get as high as you like, walk into your bank smelling like weed just take out enough money to go buy an OZ walk right up to a cop with it on your head and smack him in the face with and 8th and he couldn’t do anything about it lol ( im just playing weed is legal but that would get you in trouble). All in all I have love for them both and have big plans to give back."

6.What is your ultimate goal making music?

- "My ultimate goal is to be the one that everyone remembers gave his all. Im not in it for the fame, I want the respect. No matter if you like me or not I want you to say he loved what he did, and he did it well. Of course I want to make a living and feed my loved ones off of this music but even if I never make it big I want the people to put me on their favorites list."

7. What do you think of the music scene today and what could you contribute to it?

- "Well in my genre of music (hip hop) , There is not enough balance. As we all know there is a movement in hip hop where the focus is more on the beat and hooks rather than the words. A lot of artist just make music that makes you want to dance or put you in absent state of mind. Which is not a bad thing, some times people need to just be numb and vibe out to the music, I get it but where is the balance. There are not enough artist that put the life into music anymore. Music is also meant to make you stretch your mind and explore thoughts that you might have never give consideration to. Music is suppose to give you perspective and really make you feel, and there is not enough of that in hip hop. And that is what I will contribute. If I have put together a project or given my time to put anything out for my fans, I promise you that I will always give you my all. I will give you my flaws, I will give you my pain, I will give you my darkest and brightest thoughts, I will always give you everything I got PERIOD."

8. What are your thoughts on hurricane Harvey and all the other tragedies going on in America right now?

- "We need help. Whats going on to the people down in Texas is tragic and my prayers are with them and their families. But I am a believer in the most high and believe that as tragic as it all is whats going on in America is a sign that help is on the way. Life is about energy and balance so with every negative there has to be a positive. And the way things are going lately I believe we are over due for some positive."

9. Do you have any celebrity crushes? If so, who?

-  "Naw I don’t really do the celebrity crush thing. But I do got love and give my up most to females in the game like. Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Jill Scott, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Queen Latifah really any of my sisters of soul in the game that found away to remain themselves and respect the power of women in this industry. Entertainment is a rough game for women. Those in control always want to demean women and use them as sex objects so any women of influence that made it through all the snakes and set ups have all my love and respect."

10.Where can the people find your music? (Drop all social media links)

- Facebook: Kid Snap

  • Instagram: @TheRealKidSnap

  • Email: kidsnap20@gmail.com

11. Tell us a little about your album. What were the inspiration? What was the process of making it? What's next for you?

- "My album is meant to be another side of me. Im mainly try to stay deep and in my mind about my music. But this album is my attempt at stepping outside of that box. I wanted to give my fans just more rap, more bars and more cocky side of me. I still was able to keep some depth in the album but all in all just more fun. The process was fun and very eye opening, these really though me the difference between a mix tape and an album. I got to work with some great producers and all in all good people this was a fun album to put together. Next for me is more pushing and grinding. I have a few big things coming up and a lot of shows. I have a show October 20th in Denver with the son of the late great ODB. Ive got a Colorado tour coming up and trying to do as much as I can between shows, interviews and working on the next album."
