Welcome to Atlanta

We got a real dope artist for y'all today! He goes by the name of Wé. This guy has the whole package and his music is undeniable. Definitely somebody you don't want to sleep on in 2018. XXL needs artist like him on their roster! Check out interview we did with him.

1. What's your stage name.

"I go by Wé like beyoncé. You can type it in windows wit alt + 130 and on apple wit control + e +e."

2. How long have you been doing music?

"I been recording music for about 5- 6 years seriously now." 3. What inspired you to start making music?

"I always really loved music, I always felt like I took lyrics more seriously into my life than others did. I literally would apply lessons I learned in music to my real life, I'm sure people do that all the time though. I really got into it when my brother was making music while I was around 13. I used to make parody songs like Weird Al Yankovich. I made a song called Wood fixer from Gorilla Zoe's Hood Nigga, that the one i remember the most. I really started to get serious about music in high school when i was encouraged by my big bruh in music Morris Samu (pronounced Maru Samu). Ever since then it's been murder he wrote." 4. Who do you look up to in the music industry? Why?

"I really have high respect for anyone that's doin they thing in the industry. I think anyone that masters the art of truly getting on and staying that way has somethin special. If i had to say i look up to people it'd be any artist thats seriously doing well. I take the time to look up other artists' come up stories, and they all have unique things that plague them and can stop them, but they overcome. But if i had to say i looked up to some. Just off top i'd say 2 chainz cuz i love that nigga his music and his persona are amazing. Same goes for 21 savage and his real street persona. Big Sean has always been one of my favorites as well, i watched him get big ever since his mixtape UKNOWBIGSEAN, so he's always gonna have a spot in my musical heart. But like i said anyone who figured out how to get on and stay that way i think is someone to look up to." 5. Where are you from? What was it like growing up there?

"I was born in Atlanta but i lived in union city in a trailer park near what used to be Shannon Mall up until i was 6. My oldest brother was always gettin into shit so my parents said fuck that and moved us out to Douglasville, where i spent most my life growin up, with some trips to savannah to visit a whole lotta family. Growing up in douglasville I think I lived a pretty regular life. I played football, went to school, and got into shit any other kid woulda got into. I had some crazy times though, and we never really had much as far as glamour and glitz, but we stayed generally fed and were always able to play sports so we were blessed beoyond measure now that I think about it." 6. What is your ultimate goal making music?

"Ultimately i want to tap into my innermost potential and be able to secure myself to do this for the rest of my life. Music is my life, I don't want or really need to participate in other things as far as a career goes. I tell myself all the time If i'm not living somehwere under a bridge and completely unable to make music consistently at a high level, I'm talking tours, shows, and a way to help influence the world through my love for music and my perceptions on life and the way I live mine, then I will never stop making music. I sometimes feel like i'm gonna end up somewhere lonley as hell, like 45 years old, still going to open mics and plugging myself in as best i can lmao, I'm not giving myself a choice to be anything else but a musician. Really praying it doesn't come to that though lol." 7. What do you think of the music scene today and what could you contribute to it?

"I have a split view of the music industry. I think that as long as you have enough money to fuel your music then you can always make your mark. I know there are things i don't know about the industry, but from what i have experienced. It's all about money now, and being absolutely fuckin crazy. I feel like it's a case to case situation though because there are people who are actually fye in music and they worth givin my time to, and i feel like there are mfs out there that just be on because they aint got shit else to do so they just be crazy and out of they minds, but it works for them and even in that some people come out fye. I also feel like its a big lie sometimes, I feel like there's a huge saturation of people who don't acutally give a fuck about music, but they just don't have shit else to do with they lives so they jus rap. Again, theres alot of liars as well so i can never really tell who just being a dumbass for attention so they can show folk they know what they doin, or if they just real live dumbasses. This goes for folk das on and for indies i be seein. I think my contribution would be to bring in a real authentic form of music for people to enjoy. I know Im gonna be a big name in the future, but i know that that's not all i will be for music. I cant quite put in words right now how i I will impact the industry because I cant tell the future. All i can really say is keep your eyes to the stars for Wé. REAL SHIT!" 8. What are your thoughts on hurricane Harvey and all the other tragedies going on in America right now?

"I think right now there's alot changing in the entire world man. Things are just going crazy all at once and some folks sayin' the world finna end, pulling out Bible prophecies. Don't get me wrong i'm not saying the world ain't endin'. I am saying that this isn't the first time the world has gone through some wild shit. Our parents and there parents were alive and well during things that we read about in our history books in high school. I think over the time of the media contorting everything to make the world seem like this shitty place we miss out on all the good things that are happening as well. I want to make sure that i, as an individual, am aware of both the light and the dark in the world. I think that it's a spiritual war going on outside, word to AB-Soul, and I think that everyone has they own battle to fight, and we all in the same big war. So i think people should focus on protecting themselves and the ones they love, because this war won't ever end, it's been going on since way before you were born and it'll go on way after your gone, So protect yourself the best you can, and do the same for the ones you love. Most importantly, stay close to your God, whomever you praise. That's your real salvation." 9. Do you have any celebrity crushes? If so, who? 👀

"Megan MF Good off rip, I love her OMG i love her. She the finest woman in the world to me, like dawg if i could remember my myspace password i'd show you she my background. If it's anyway i could make that happen im in there, no hesitation. Also i love Tarji P Henson, she like a grown classy bad, she get me hype boi. And more recently i FW SZA too, she like the leader of the regular black girl, but my crush on her more like a i really wanna smoke wit her n let her elevate my mental and my spirit type of crush, I'm sure she'd rock my world but i honestly don't think I could handle all that from her, she'd ruin my life, the music after would be great though, to be real, so we can just smoke one time lol." 10. Where can the people find your music? (Drop all social media links)

"My latest mixtape, Barely Legal, Is everywhere. Itunes, Soundcloud, Spotify, Iheartradio too, S/O to gambino he a goat, and the iheartradio team, Karmen Rydem she's a gem. What was your inspiration? What was the process of making it? What's next for you?

"Ive always been a person to sort of empty out all my negative feelings and all my pain into my music as well. This last mixtape is called Barely Legal because i started it when I was just turning 21. It is a collection of those feelings that i was feeling and sort of a recollection of all my thoughts and things that were on my mind and in my heart and soul at the time, it's like a right now look at what all was going on in my life at the time. Definitely worth the listen, It ended up taking a year and some months to release as i got more info on the industry and lived more life. It was a huge release to finally drop it and move forward as well. I am in the process of spreading that tape everywhere i can as i work my next big project called Reattachment, which has it's own whole concept to it revolving around my real life, i like to keep my music authentic and give the best and the worst of myself, and this project has a different twist to it that I'll get into once it's close to it's release. I got big things planned, I Just want more people around to see it, cuz it'll be something to see, believe me and anyone who rocks with me right now, you won't be ready, so i suggest you prepare with Barely Legal."
