INTERVIEW BELOW:
1. What's your stage name.
"My stage is Karriem Siddique, i really wanted to be gone by Karriem though, i never really liked my middle name but i love first name so hopefully people just call me Karriem." 2. How long have you been doing music?
"I've actually been doing music since i was about in the fourth grade,i've been playing the alto saxophone since then and writing poetry. The project i'm submitting though is my first ever recorded tracks, ever. Seeing as though that is i've been getting good reviews on it so i'm very happy about that." 3. What inspired you to start making music?
"What inspired me to really start making music is really writing poetry. All hip hop really is poetry with a beat, we try not acknowledge because i guess it makes our genre look soft but really that's all it is. If you take away the beat from the greatest rappers of all time you can see how profound there words and there speech is. I always liked music but when i start to get in depth how words mix and match on beat, i fell in love." 4. Who do you look up to in the music industry? Why?
"Not to be arrogant I really don't look up to anyone in the industry because everybody has there own path, to look at someone like thats my role model is like kind of comparing. Don't get me wrong I admire alot of greats before and will admire greats after me but i really don't look up to anyone ." 5. Where are you from? What was it like growing up there?
"I'm from the south side of Chicago, probably one of the most beautiful cities in america. Chicago really does have the best food places, no debating. I really love that place with all my heart even though sometimes it can get a little overwhelming. Especially growing up, you have your good and bad times. Most of the bad turned out to tragic events happening in the inner city but when you actually travel around the city you'll love it." 6. What is your ultimate goal makinng music?
"My ultimate goal making music is being one of the greats for sure but also trying to bring a balance to music. I feel like in this genre im in its no balance. I dont think both sides of the spectrum gets there just do. I think Kendrick and J.cole has alot to do with opening up to more of mainstream audience liking music thats means something but its still alot of work that needs to be done. Also i want to build a school among other things i want to do with the money i make from my art." 7. What do you think of the music scene today and what could you contribute to it?
"I think the music scene is okay its could be better, like i said previous question it just needs to be more balance and it will be magnificient. Sometimes I don't think people realize how powerful music is so we cheapen it. Alot of us give to much attention to people who don't deserve attention, because at the end of the day we make these people famous. Sometimes we have people just jumping into music that does'nt even care about the genre. We don't take music seriously, i could'nt just wake up one day and just be a doctor because I gave someone cold medicine. It should'nt be different with music. My contribution is telling a different story, coming up with different outlook on life. That's why i never understand why artist like to copy other people stories and style because you have another outlook on life, nature, people, clothes, you can share with people. Who wants a genre where everybody sounds the same, how is music evolving that way." 8. What are your thoughts on Trump?
"I feel like he the least of our problems, i don't want to get to deep but its a war." 9. Do you have any celebrity crushes? If so, who? 👀
"I love women,so my crushes ranger differ day to day,but SZA is different but we both scorpios so I don't know." 10. Where can the people find your music? (Drop all social media links)
"As of right now you can only find my music on souncloud. Look up Karriem, Chicago, united states. https://soundcloud.com/7944 here the link i be greatly appreciated if everyone listens." 11. As the new year approaches, where do you see yourself in 2018?
"In 2018, hopefully ill be out my mother house but also making steps ahead to being more of a household name, touring, traveling, getting my music out there. I also want to thank you guys for this oppurtunity. "
