The Prophet Najee 🙇🏽‍♂️

When you think of the music industry today, you don’t really see much substance within anymore. Rappers like J Cole, Kendrick, Nas, Biggie, Tupac, etc are considered outcasts to these kids. They want to hear party music, turn up music 24/7. There’s absolutely NOTHING wrong with that, but what about hip hop? We need that back. This next artist is definitely gonna live up to his name. He goes back The Prophet Najee. That name alone says a lot about his character. Najee even said to us that he looks up to people like Tupac. That says a lot about his character. His music ultimately speaks for itself. He is a young king ready to reign. 🚀

1. What's your stage name.

💰The Prophet Najee 2. How long have you been doing music?

💰I've been doing music since I was in elementary school. I created my first song when I was eleven, but I became more active since January of 2017.  3. What inspired you to start making music?

💰Honestly Tupac was the first person who really inspired me to start making music. Actually, "Hail Mary" was one of the first songs I memorized as a kid. I remember riding around in the back seat of my mom's car and it started playing. When she turned around, she saw me bobbing my head to it and repeating the words. I was so young but Tupac's messages were so pure that it resonated with me. The rest is history. 4. Who do you look up to in the music industry? Why?

💰Tupac is who I look up to the most, but since he isn't physically present in the music industry, I look up to others such as Kendrick Lamar, J.Cole, Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Big Sean just to name a few. I've researched their individual success stories and I really admire that they didn't give up their dreams even when opportunities seemed scarce. I look to Jay-Z for more of his business side because I learned a lot from his early days coming up in the game. Overall, all these artists have unique appeals that make them great role models in the industry. 5. Where are you from? What was it like growing up there?

💰I'm from Memphis, TN but my people are originally from Nigeria so growing up was pretty rough. My folks came into the states with nothing. They had to start over. We started off living in my uncle's house in north Memphis. My family shared one room until my folks were able to save up enough to move out. Life in Memphis isn't easy and everyone from there can agree. Imagine coming from impoverished family that can only spend money on necessities concerning the house. Nothing more than that. That meant no fancy clothes or picking up the newest Jordan's that just dropped that all your friends at school were talking about. None of that. We didn't have a lot, but we always had enough. I can thank my mom for that because she's been my superwoman all my life. She's sacrificed her happiness for over 20 years for the greater good of the family. I've seen her grind to move my family three times. All these came with sacrifices but that's the mentality of Nigerians and Memphians. You have to make a way for a better life no matter what all while playing it safe.  6. What is your ultimate goal makinng music?

💰My goal is to show there's a God in you and me. That light we have within ourselves can definitely spark our rightful paths. I chose to rap because this was my God given ability and I'm letting him use me. I want to show others that you don't have to be afraid to follow your heart if you feel that it will lead you to serve your ultimate purpose in life.  7. What do you think of the music scene today and what could you contribute to it?

💰Music is forever evolving, so I can say that the hip hop scene has ushered in a wave of artists that has brought in new sounds to the industry. However, I feel as though it's become too polluted with people who have no real passion for music. I'm not going to knock anyone's hustle, but if you don't see longevity in this business to create actual change, then why are you in it? 8. What are your thoughts on Trump?

💰Honestly, I don't like Trump as an individual or president, but I will say that him being elected president was probably one of the best things that's happened for America. His election has exposed a lot about the country and its politics. I'm happy to see that people are waking up to the fact that the government has been lying and doing all types of crazy things for years in order to keep the 1% rich and powerful. It brings a sense of unity at the end of the day because the vast majority of people simply hate Trump.  9. Do you have any celebrity crushes? If so, who?

💰It's not necessarily a crush, but I'm very fond of Cardi B at the moment. She's very real and I can tell she's very in tune with herself. She's very pure and also a very beautiful soul.  10. Where can the people find your music? (Drop all social media links)

11. The new year is here! Where do you see yourself in 2018?

💰In 2018, I see myself on a bigger platform. I believe that this year will bring me the exposure I need in order to get my message across. A lot can happen in one year, so I treat everyday as a brand new opportunity. I just take it day by day and let God be my light.
